Get Your Oyster Roast Tickets NOW!

We like to be the first folks out of the chute with a great seasonal seafood event!  So, the date for our annual Oyster Roast is coming up really fast on September 15th.  This event is a wonderful Museum fundraiser event for both Oyster Lovers and for those who don’t particularly care to eat the stationary little critters. We will be serving raw and roasted oysters, handmade vegan and bacon-enhanced clam chowder, hot dogs, coleslaw, beans, and tater salad. And, we will also be serving delicious desserts baked fresh by our friends form Carrot Tree Kitchens.  Serving will start at noon and run until 3 PM. Because we are the Watermen’s Museum, we make sure we get our oysters from multiple fresh seafood harvesters, growers, and vendors in the area so that you can taste the wide range of flavors and salinity levels of Chesapeake Bay oysters grown and harvested in different areas. We have already contacted five different providers to make sure we have a great assortment of regional oysters.  Prices for Oyster lovers are $45 per adult.  If you are not an oyster lover, your ticket is only $35 per adult.  Children 6-14 can partake in as much of anything as they want for $25.  And, there is a $5 discount for Advanced purchases and for Museum members, Active Duty Military, Teachers and First Responders.  Of course, Kids 5 and under are free and can have any food they are willing to eat.  Each meal gets you a free drink or your legal choice with more refreshments available for purchase.  Tickets are available at our Museum Gift Shop Tuesday-Saturday from 10-5 and Sundays 1-5.   If you don’t have time to stop by to take advantage of the Early Bird discount, just drop us and email or call the office.  We can arrange for advanced purchase over the phone.  Call us at 757-887-2641 or email admin@watermens.org.  You ask how this wonderful all-you-can-eat fundraiser can be priced so reasonably…well, its all thanks to our sponsors: WestRock company, Carrot Tree Kitchens, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Yorktown Sailing Charters, Patriot Tours and Provisions, Julie Ann Seafood, Fort Monroe’s Firehouse Coffee, and other area businesses.  After expenses, the funds raised by this event directly support our Museum’s children’s programs, exhibits, and other critical operations activities.  So, please, come enjoy great food.  Make new friends.  And, support our Museum…recently awarded two distinguished awards: Gold for the Best Summer Camps on the Peninsula by Coastal Virginia Magazine AND Best Small Museum by Chesapeake Bay Magazine!
