Although we are a small museum, we pride ourselves in being able to tackle large challenges that affect our operations and also those that affect the communities that surround us. We currently have a large number of programs either on-going or in the planning stages.
We are also working with the Chesapeake Bay Conservancy, Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), ReadyReef Inc., Jordan Marine, CDII Inc., Julie Ann Seafood, Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association, and other local partners on programs to examine new concepts in oyster propagation and harvesting and also on using natural methods to reduce riparian erosion that threatens land ownership and the habitats of the living creatures in our waters.
