Yorktown: The Civil War

Narrative:  Why did the Confederate and Federal forces both want control of the Chesapeake Bay and the Hampton Roads Peninsula? Who was the common soldier of the Civil War? How did the War affect civilians and, especially the African American population along the Chesapeake Bay?
