2019 Urbanna Oyster Festival

We spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Urbanna Oyster Festival, unquestionably the largest town-wide festival in the region.  We had a really good time talking with children and adults.

On Thursday, Mike and Bubba spent the day with over 300 visiting school children.  They talked about and demonstrated how to build a Chesapeake Bay rowing skiff using our 14-foot boatbuilding kit boat.  The kids got to try their hand at using some of the old and the new tools used to build boats.

On Friday and Saturday, Bubba, Ken, Dan, Steve, and Mike talked with scores of people about our Museum, boatbuilding, our children’s school and summer camp programs and much more. They also offered raffle tickets for folks to enter to win a 14-foot red cedar skiff built by the Museum crew.  And, while they discussed everything, they had the opportunity to take some pictures of some of their favorite visitors.
