Adult Pirate Camp and the Invasion

Avast ye sailors and scoundrels, step back into the Age of Piracy as the Watermen’s Museum and Riverwalk Landing are invaded by seafaring marauders the likes of what hasn’t been seen for many a day.

On Friday, April 27, 2018, join the Watermen’s Museum for an exciting evening at our first-ever Adult Pirate Dinner Camp.  The cost is a mere $55 per person.  Starting at 5:30 PM and running until 10 PM, this evening event will feature a celebration of piratical proportions.  You will experience crew training, pirate sword and gun drills, a cannon firing, sea shanties, and telling of your own tall tales of life on the water.  Food and grog will also be featured.  You must be 18 years or older to attend.  Email us at admin@watermens.org for details and to register for the camp.  Minimum attendance is 10 people for the camp.  But, sign up early, seats are filling fast.

Then, on both Saturday, April 28, 2018 and on Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM come join us for a day of bedlam and anarchy as Seafarers and Landlubbers of all ages are invited to visit the Historic Yorktown waterfront to learn lessons and legends from pirates’ lives of the 17th and 18th centuries. There will be plenty of activities for the kids and adults. Explore our pirate encampment, attend pirate school, and witness a pirate trial where we’ll try the scoundrel fairly and then convict him of his treasonous acts!  Sing along with the sea shanties, engage in sword and musket training, and don’t miss the exciting cannon demonstrations as we fire our charges at the passing ships and they fire back to defend themselves.

You can even sail the stormy waters of the York River with Captain Mayhem. The Captain’s looking for large and pint-sized recruits to join his crew. No worries. We doubt he’ll make you walk the plank!  All the family-friendly landlubber events promise fun times without outlay of any coins of the kingdom.  But, alas, sailing on schooner pirate cruises does require spending some doubloons for a ticket.  But, it’ll be coin well spent to experience the excitement of a pirate adventure.
